INTERNATIONAL AWARD-WINNING MUSIC GROUPS PERFORM FOR PASINAYA 2016

Four international award-winning music groups—three choirs and one guitar ensemble— will perform for the CCP PASINAYA OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL 2016 on February 7, 2016. Boscorale, the Ligao National High School Choir, Baao Children & Youth Choir and Triple Fret, all 2015 international competition winners, will share their talent during the open house festival.
Boscorale conducted by Alvin Paulin, won the Vocal Ensemble Category of the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival held at the CCP on July 22-25, 2015. The high school choir from Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati bested 11 other choirs from different parts of the country, Indonesia and Italy.
The Ligao National High School Voice Chorale from Albay conducted by Celger Villacampa Venzon was the Grand Prix winner of the Bali International Choir Festival held on July 29-August 2, 2015. The group won against 14 choirs in the Folklore Category and 22 choirs in the Teenager Choir Category before reaching the finals of the Competition where they emerged Grand Champion.
The Baao Children and Youth Choir from Baao, Camarines Sur, conducted by Hermelino B. Briones won a number of awards during the 11th Busan International Choir Festival and Competition held in Busan, Korea held on October 16 -22, 2015. These include the top prize in the Youth Choir Categeory, 2nd prize in the Ethnic Category and the Audience Prize.
Triple Fret, an all-female Guitar trio won the top prize in the 27th Japan Guitar Ensemble Festival held in Tokyo on June 28, 2015. The trio composed of Jenny de Vera, Iqui Vinculado and Marga Abejo also garnered the Japan Guitar Association Award and the Harumi Award for Best Performance of an Original Contemporary Composition for Guitar.
All groups will perform at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) on the following time slots: Baao Children and Youth Choir at 10:20 AM, Ligao National High School Voice Chorale at 2:20 PM, Triple Fret at 3:20 PM and Boscorale at 4:40 PM.
Other music groups featured at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino include the Kabataang Gitarista (9:00 AM), PTGP Youth Piano Ensemble (9:40 AM), Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (11:00 AM), Makiling Singers (11:40 AM), PHSA Grade 10 Graduating Scholars (12:20 PM), Timoteo Paez Elementary School Rondalla (1:00 PM), Children’s Marimba Ensemble (1:40 PM), Bianca Camille Lopez, soprano (4:00 PM), and the Silangcruz Family Flute Ensemble (5:20 PM).
The CCP Pasinaya Open House Festival 2016 is the CCP’s annual multi-arts Festival will take place from 8 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016 all its performance and rehearsal venues, and partner museums in Manila, to open the CCP doors to all types of audiences to promote arts and culture. The Festival will showcase the performances of the CCP resident companies such as Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater, Philippine Madrigal Singers, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Tanghalang Pilipino, the UST Symphony Orchestra, winners the National Music Competitions for Young Artists and other guest performers in the fields of dance, music and theater.
