INTERNATIONAL and local folk dance groups and artists gather at the Cultural Center of the Philippines for the INDAK PILIPINAS 2019 FOLKLORIC DANCE FESTIVAL slated on February 28 to March 3, 2019.

Now on its second year, the festival aims to showcase the best folkloric groups and their best dance pieces choreographed and staged by Philippine National Artists for Dance and other respected personalities in the dance world to celebrate the spirit of collaboration.

It will feature works by National Artist for Dance Francisca Reyes-Aquino, also known as the Mother of Philippine Folk Dance, National Artists for Dance Dr. Lucrecia Reyes-Urtula and National Artist Ramon Obusan, as well as other prominent figures in the dance community including Gawad CCP awardees Dr. Paz Cielo A. Belmonte and Corazon Inigo, Ramon Magsaysay awardee Ligaya Amilbangsa, Jovita Sison Friese, and Libertad Fajardo, among others.

The Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Centro Escolar University Folk Dance Troupe, Kaloob Philippine Music & Dance Ministry, LIKHA-Pilipino Folk Ensemble, University of the East Silanganan Dance Troupe, University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe will perform on March 1, 2019 at 8pm.

The Bulacan State University Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe, Kahayag Dance Company Philippines, Philippine Normal University Kislap Sining Dance Troupe, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Sindaw Philippines Performing Arts Guild, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Cultural Dance Troupe, University of the Philippines Filipinia Dance Group will take center stage on March 2, 4pm.

The festival will culminate on March 3, with performances from the Kaloob Philippine Music and Dance Ministry, Koronadal Hinugyaw Cultural Dance Troupe, LIKHA-Pilipino Folk Ensemble, Philippine Barangay Folk Dance Troupe, Rizal Technological University Teatro Rizalia Kultura Dance Troupe, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Cultural Dance Troupe, and Zamboanga Del Sur National High School Melengas Dance Ensemble.

The festival celebrates the 70th founding anniversary of Philippine Folk Dance Society, and coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The festival is made possible through the partnership with the Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS), Cultural Center of the Philippines(CCP), Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUCI), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Tourism (DOT).
