CINEMALAYA SETS ADDITIONAL SCREENINGS TO MEET AUDIENCE DEMAND

Sold out Cinemalaya films Pamilya Ordinaryo and Kusina, both competition films in the full length category, will be given additional screening slots to satisfy audience demand at the 12th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival now ongoing until August 14 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and in Ayala Malls in Metro Manila, Laguna and Cebu.
Pamilya Ordinaryo by Eduardo Roy, Jr. is slated on August 12, 12:45 pm at the CCP Main Theater. The film is about teenage parents Jane and Aries who make a living out of stealing on the streets… until fate hits back at them.
Kusina, the Judy Ann Santos starrer directed by David Corpuz and Cenon Palomares, will be shown on August 13, 12:45 pm at the CCP Main Theater. Kusina (The Kitchen) is the silent witness to the life and love of Juanita, played by Judy Ann Santos. It is her sanctuary, the place where she creates dishes for her family, her friends, even enemies and strangers. Through cooking, she gets to know the people around her, and in return, reveal herself to them.
2016 Asian American International Film Festival Best Audience Choice Awardee TOTO by John Paul Su will be shown on August 13 at 10 am at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute (CCP Studio Theater). TOTO is about a young Filipino hotel room service attendant who is determined to obtain a U.S. visa by any means. But when his schemes put the lives of his loved ones in danger, he is forced to question the extremity of his actions and reevaluate the cost of fulfilling his dream. This dark comedy drama stars Sid Lucero, Thou Reyes, Blake Boyd, Mara Lopez, Neil Ryan Sese, Bembol Roco, Bibeth Orteza, Liza Diño, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Jelson Bay, Che Ramos ,Marnie Lapus, Raul Montesa, Carlos Cruz, David Christopher Lorenz Martinez and Sheila Valderrama. The Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) was held recently on July 21-30 in New York City. Presented by Asian CineVision, it is the first and longest running festival in the country devoted to films by and about Asians and Asian Americans.
Jescom Films Philippines‘ Ignacio de Loyola will be shown on August 14, 12:45 pm at the CCP Little Theater. Ignacio de Loyola is a modern and very human take on the story of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, often called ‘The Saint of Second Chances.’ The film stars Andreas Muñoz, Javier Godino and Julio Perillan.Cinemalaya is a project of the Cinemalaya Foundation, the Cultural Center of the Philippines in partnership with Ayala Malls Cinemas. Established in 2005, Cinemalaya is an all-digital film festival and competition that aims to discover, encourage and honor cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers.
