Sarah Maria Samaniego


Sarah Maria Samaniego considers dance as her vocation, a calling she has fervently followed since her beginnings at Cherry T. Velarde Dance Academy in Baguio and Ballet Manila. She performs, choreographs, and teaches dance, finding and harnessing the potential of dance and dancers to express truths in myriad ways and forms. Sarah graduated cum laude at the University of the Philippines Diliman with a major in Dance and has since continued her research and creative practice locally and abroad. A prize winner and Audience Choice Award in the New Choreographers Competition at 2012 Wifi Dance Festival which was featured at the 2013 Yokohama Dance Competition X Dance Showcase. In 2014, she participated in the Southeast Asian Choreolab in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2018 she did a 5-month residency program in Seoul, Korea as a recipient of the Asia, Africa, and Latin America Dance Exchange. She has recently presented her work “Paagos” (Drift) at Tangente Winter-Spring Season 2019 in Montreal, Canada.
