DESCRIPTION

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s (PPO) chamber music concert series continues to bring enjoyable and uplifting classical music with its third virtual concert. Through these online concerts, audiences from all over the country and around the world can now enjoy performances of the members of the country’s premier orchestra in the comfort and safety of their homes.

In this series, PPO Music Director Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura curates a fine selection of classical pieces composed for the chamber orchestra. The third series concert features the trio composed of flutists Hercules Santiago, Edgardo Silangcruz, and Rosemarie Poblete, in their performance of Sonata for 3 Flutes  No.166 by Johann Joachim Quantz. The programme also features the PPO brass quintet composed of Jay Ar Mesa on French horn, Glober Calambro and  Edwin Matias on trumpet, Ricson Poonin on trombone, and Benedicto Dela Peret, Jr. on tuba performing Victor Ewald’s Quintet No.1.

Chamber music, as originally defined, is music written for a smaller ensemble of musical instruments and intended to be performed for small gatherings, usually at court or at home. Ensemble playing highlights individual players and their instruments. This form of performance also offers audiences a more intimate experience of classical music different from the grandiose sound of a full orchestra performance. Discover and experience the intimate beauty of classical chamber music as performed by members of the PPO!
