DESCRIPTIONOn its fourth year, Tricks and Musical Treats takes its audience to a “Journey to the Kingdom of Books.” Premiere children’s theatre actress, Ms. Liesl Batucan provides the lively narration with Blanche, while Maestro Herminigildo Ranera conducts the PPO in a selection of popular classical masterpieces made for children’s ears.
The concert Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Brahm’s Hungarian Dances, Chabrier’s Spanish Rhapsody and other surprise numbers. One of the highlights of the program is Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, a ‘symphonic fairy tale for children’ where the narrator tells a children's story, while the orchestra illustrates it with different instruments representing characters in the story. It is Prokofiev's most frequently performed work, and one of the most frequently performed works in the entire classical repertoire all over the world
Pre-concert activities will start at 3:00 PM with a musical instruments petting zoo at the Little Theater Lobby where children can try their hands in playing different orchestral instruments with a mini tutorial from member of PPO. Kids are invited to come in their favourite book character costume as CCP hosts trick or treat activities for the kids.
