DESCRIPTION
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) continues to bring enjoyable and uplifting classical music online with the PPO Chamber Music Concert. Now, audiences from all over the country and around the world can enjoy performances of the members of the country’s premier orchestra in the comfort of their homes through these virtual concerts. PPO Music Director Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura curates a fine selection of classical pieces composed for the chamber orchestra.
Chamber music, as originally defined, is music written for a smaller ensemble of musical instruments and intended to be performed for small gatherings, usually at court or at home. Today, chamber music performance has migrated from the home to the concert hall.
In Western classical music, smaller ensembles are called chamber music ensembles, which include groups like the duet, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, and so on. It features combinations of different instruments of the orchestra and emphasizes personal expressions and conversations among players rather than a virtuosic display or leadership by a conductor.
Ensemble playing highlights individual players and their instruments. This form of performance also offers audiences a more intimate experience of classical music different from the grandiose sound of a full orchestra performance. Discover and experience the intimate beauty of classical chamber music as performed by members of the PPO!
